An original painting on canvas is the cornerstone to building any serious art collection. Over the course of my career I have been commissioned to create paintings from anything to athletes, Super Bowl championships, family portraits, and US Presidents. Canvases can take anywhere between 30 and 100 hours to complete, depending on the size and detail of the painting.
The first step to commissioning a canvas is to select what the subject matter will be. It can be one subject or multiple.
I paint what I see, so I work the best from high resolution images. If it is an image of a pro athlete, I can find some I like best that I can send to you and we can work together to select the final image.
The style I have developed over the years that makes my paintings stand out from others is a careful attention to detail and airbrushed backgrounds. Typically my paintings have a solid color background with stenciled images subtly airbrushed into it with a full color detailed subject in the center. This part is up to you what you'd like in it. Once we come up with a composition, I can put together a mock-up in Photoshop of the images to give you a rough idea of what the painting will look like. If you view my canvas gallery, you'll be able to get a better understanding of my unique style.
I will take it from here. The next several weeks will be filled with a lot of late nights and hours working tirelessly to bring your painting to life on canvas. I will keep you updated along the way. Once complete and you approve of the final piece, I will coat the painting with a high gloss varnish which helps bring out the colors and to protect the painting.
The cost to commission an original canvas painting varies based on size and number of subjects in the painting. They start at $1,500 for a single, full color subject, smaller size 16x20 canvas. As the size or number of subjects increases, so does the price. A larger size, or 30x40 canvas, starts at $3,500 for a single, full color subject. I require a 50% installment before I start any painting and the balance upon completion. Shipping charges may apply. Because a commissioned painting is a custom project, I cannot accept returns.
